Travel Writing & Photography Competitions launched for Travellers in Nigeria
The management of @TravelNextDoor on Monday 1st August 2016 announced a contest to promote domestic tourism appreciation by Nigerians.
Consisting of two broad categories, the contest invites entries from travellers in the country to send in a write up on the theme: “My Nigeria Travel Story”, promoted on social media with the hashtag #MyNigeriaTravelStory
The second category is for travel photography, promoted also on social media with the corresponding hashtag #mytravelpicNG.
The star prize for the contest is the coffee-table book titled Abeokuta: Beyond the Rocks, written and photographed by Hakeem Adenekan.
“[We] have been itching to give out this book on #Abeokuta for weeks, and so we decided that it will leave [our] shelf this week to a lucky Nigerian traveller, resident anywhere in the country,” goes the wordings of the post by Pelu Awofeso, @TraveNextDoor Founfder/ CEO.
“Here’s the deal: tell [us] how many states in Nigeria you have travelled to (my tally is 32 states at the last count), and share a memorable experience you’ve had in one of them…My team will read through all submissions and select the story that impresses us best.”
Other prizes for the competition include: a centre-rug donated by Nobel Carpets and Rugs, copies of How to be a Nigerian by Anthony Enahoro, courtesy of The Journalism Clinic; Tour of Duty, Nigerian Festivals and Route 234, courtesy of Homestead Publishing.
